ISO 14001 (Sistem Manajemen Lingkungan)

ISO 14001 is a globally recognized quality standard for Environmental Management Systems (EMS). ISO 14001 requires full compliance with ISO standard for EMS, including but not limited to: board level responsibility, identification of impact to the environment, compliance with regulations, commitment to environmental targets and objectives, internal and external communication, monitoring and measurement of environmental performance, and the mechanism of internal audit.

Our objective is to obtain and maintain ISO 14001 certification in all our plantations within 10 years after the start of operations. Recertification occurs in a 5-year cycle. Certified companies are also required to undergo an annual audit by a nationally accredited certification body and internal audit as part of continual improvements.

Plantations in North Sumatra have received ISO 14001 certification: ANJA in 2013 and ANJAS the following year (2014). SMM has received certification in 2015 and KAL in 2018.  The only plantation that is not yet ISO 14001 certified is our Papua plantation which started its operation only in 2015.

As of 2023, all five palm oil mills in the ANJ group have obtained ISO 14001 certification, and five out of six operating palm plantations have received ISO 14001 certification. In Papua, there is only one palm plantation that is not yet ISO 14001 certified, and it only started operations in 2015.
