Jakarta, 26 Agustus 2022 –PT Austindo Nusantara Jaya Tbk (ANJ) k) recorded another achievement at the IDX Channel Anugerah Inovasi Indonesia 2022 held last night, August 25th, 2022. ANJ successfully won the main award for the internal process category for the innovation "Responsible Development Program" along with the award in the "Green Economy" category for the innovation "Tanam Sapu Tangan Jarwo".
"ANJ is committed to bring positive impact on society as well as the environment by applying innovative, eco-friendly, and empowering approaches. We are sincerely grateful for the appreciation IDX Channel has given to our loyalty and programs." Nunik Maharani, the ANJ Group Director of Sustainability and Communication stated.
ANJ has started a variety of initiatives through the Responsible Development Program (RD) that are aimed to improve the local socioeconomic welfare. Pioneered in 2018, the RD program establishment was based on the three pillars; People Welfare, natural resources stewardship and environment management (Planet), and long-term economic continuity (Prosperity).
"The RD program is proof that the entire ANJ Group employees, from the President Director to the staff, are enhancing their contribution to the company's foresight in improving the quality of human life and nature existence. Each project in the program has a major intention that is related to the effort of strengthening the economic, social, and environment endurance," Nunik further explained.
The innovative project in the farming sector "Sistem Tanam Sapu Tangan Jarwo" or the Floating Rice Field conducted at the PT Sahabat Mewah dan Makmur, a subsidiary company of ANJ in East Belitung, is an example of a project under the RD program. The project introduces the floating technique in paddy planting using the legowo row planting system to the local farmers. In 2021, the project contributed to achieving the PROPER Emas from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry.
The SMM team assists the Suka Maju farmer group in Jangkang Village, East Belitung to apply the floating paddy field technique on marshland or flood-prone areas. This method can transform non-productive land into productive soil. Moreover, it potentially produces a greater yield compared to a conventional paddy field. The average harvest of dry grain in East Belitung is estimated to reach 3 to 4 tons/hectare. Meanwhile, a single hectare of floating paddy field can potentially produce double, approximately 7 to 8 tons of rice.
"One of the success keys in creating independence is an active partnership with the local through the Floating Paddy Field project and other varied projects under the RD program. The company directly contributes to achieve the agenda of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)," Nunik concluded.
