MANPOWER AND TRANSMIGRATION AGENCY OF SOUTH SORONG CONDUCTED SOCIALIZATION IN ANJ GROUP

Sorong Selatan, 29 Juni 2022 -

Manpower Supervision Agency from the Department of Transmigration and Manpower of West Papua Province together with the Manpower Office of the Government of South Sorong Regency visited two oil palm plantation units and a sago mill owned by PT Austindo Nusantara Jaya Tbk (ANJ) located in Kais District on 21 – 24 June to conduct socialization related to regulations as an obligation to comply and implement Law No. 13 of 2002 and Permenaker No. 14 of 2015. During the visit, discussions were also held with the contractors and employees.

The Head of the Manpower and Transmigration Service represented by the Head of Work Placement and Expansion, Yunus Jarollo, hoped that the socialization of labour regulations can encourage synergy between the government, companies, and workers in the future. However, he suggests that any labour dispute should be resolved properly through existing channels.

  

Gritje Fonataba, Head of Government and Stakeholder Relations ANJ for the Papua region, said that ANJ has always complied with and adhered to applicable regulations.  The company has completed and fulfilled its obligations, both to local governments and to the community, in carrying out its operations and meeting business needs.

“Inevitably, we still find many obstacles in working agreements with workers, including discipline issues that hinders the company's operations. We hope that the implementation of this socialization can help the community to better understand that there are rules at work,” said Gritje.

Meanwhile, the socialization material delivered by Budhy Darmawan Siboro from the UPTD of Labor Inspection includes norms for employment relations, norms for termination of employment, norms for child labour and basic norms for Occupational Safety and Health (K3).

“The regulations are currently evolving with the presence of the Job Creation Act, so there are many provisions contained in Law no.  13 updated in the Job Creation Act.  This must be understood so that workers, employers and local governments can understand and complement each other in the implementation of laws and regulations.  So that companies, the government and workers can work hand in hand in the implementation of job creation.  In addition, the local government is expected to provide services to entrepreneurs and workers," said Budhy.
