ANJA PROVIDED ASSISTANCE TO INCREASE AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTIVITY IN TOBING JAE

Padang Lawas, 22 March 2022 – PT Austindo Nusantara Jaya Agri Binanga (ANJA), a subsidiary of PT Austindo Nusantara Jaya Tbk (ANJ), recently provided a unit of water pumping machine to help improve the productivity of rice plants managed by Farmers Group Sinar Jaya 1 and 2, located in Tobing Jae Village, Huristak District, Padang Lawas Regency.

A water pumping machine was provided to improve the water system of the rice fields in Tobing Jae Village, especially during the dry season, so that the water system can be evenly distributed throughout the rice fields.

Taupan Sibarani, General Manager of ANJA said that the provision of this assistance was a form of ANJA's commitment to supporting the food security program by increasing the productivity of the rice plants of the Tobing Jae Village community.

"We hope that the provision of a pump machine can benefit the people of Tobing Jae Village, especially the Sinar Jaya 1 and 2 Farmer Groups. In addition, we hope that with a good water system, farmers can increase yields, maximize production, and increase the planting period, which was originally only once a year, to 2-3 harvests per year," said Taupan.

The donation was handed over directly by the ANJA team represented by Sapian Basri, Estate Manager, and Syawalludin Hasibuan, Mill Manager, and accompanied by several other company employees. The assistance provided by ANJA was welcomed and received directly by Village Officials, Community Leaders, and Sinar Jaya 1 and 2 Farmer Groups.

Tongku Gumanti Harahap, the Community Leader of Tobing Jae Village, said that the people of Tobing Jae Village would like to express their deepest gratitude to ANJA for providing a water pump machine. He hopes farmers and the community can utilize this assistance to increase agricultural productivity.

"Like the Mandailing saying 'Tandani Batas Godang,' meaning the people of Tobing Jae Village are proud of the assistance. The people of Tobing Jae will join hands with the ANJA team to build better agriculture,” added Tongku Gumanti Harahap.

With this assistance, Taupan hopes that the relationship between ANJA and the people of Tobing Jae Village can continue to be well-established and sustainable. This assistance continues the previous program, namely the Independent Farmer Program.

The Independent Farmer Program has succeeded in overcoming rice pests through natural predators, reducing GHG emissions by reducing the use of rodenticides and insecticides, and in 2021 has succeeded in increasing rice productivity by 35.6% compared to the previous year. This initiative helps increase the income of Tobing Jae Village community members. The success of the Independent Farmer Program became one of ANJA's success criteria in winning the Gold Company Performance Rating Program (PROPER) award from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK).
