KAL PREVENTS FOREST AND LAND FIRES THROUGH MULTI-PARTY COLLABORATION

Ketapang, 21 September 2023 - The El Nino phenomenon causes drought and increased temperatures in various regions in Indonesia. In anticipation of extreme weather conditions, PT Kayung Agro Lestari (KAL), a subsidiary of PT Austindo Nusantara Jaya Tbk (ANJ), has implemented various preventive and collaborative activities involving stakeholders. One of the measures involves joint alert calls, routine patrols, and raising awareness about forest and land fires in nearby villages, demonstrating KAL's commitment to engaging all stakeholders in preventing and mitigating such incidents.

“KAL enforces rigorous protocols to prevent, control, and manage fires. This includes ensuring the readiness of trained firefighting and patrol teams, fire watch towers, water management infrastructure, remote monitoring using satellite data, fire warning signs, firefighting equipment, internal and external communications, and outreach programs during the dry season," explained Dadi, General Manager at KAL.

Dadi also emphasized the company's commitment to the safe monitoring and management of land clearing, along with providing support by empowering local communities in efforts to prevent forest and land fires. These actions are rooted in collaborative efforts with all parties, aligning seamlessly with the company's vision, mission, and values in preventing and overcoming forest and land fires.

"To raise awareness about the potential for forest and land fires, we have implemented a village and community-based land fire prevention program. Within this program, we are establishing fire care farmer groups (KTPA) in three neighboring villages: Kuala Tolak, Kuala Satong, and Laman Satong. These initiatives actively involve local communities in forest and land fire prevention," added Dadi.

   

On September 6, 2023, in collaboration with the Ketapang Police Traffic Unit, KAL participated in activities to prevent health impacts from forest and land fires in Ketapang Regency, donating 5,000 masks through the Ketapang Department of Housing, Settlement Areas, and the Environment.
