KAL PROVIDED ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY EDUCATION FOR SCHOOL CHILDREN

Ketapang, 23 Maret 2022 – The earth was created millions of years ago and underwent so many processes of formation and change until its current state. The preservation of natural resources (SDA) on earth should be done. Nature has provided various human needs through a series of extensive processes. There is a cycle that must be maintained for the sustainability of the environment, the earth, and humans. Therefore, we need to raise the awareness of every individual on earth to preserve these natural resources.

As a way to raise this awareness, PT Kayung Agro Lestari (KAL), a subsidiary of PT Austindo Nusantara Jaya Tbk (ANJ) located in Ketapang, West Kalimantan, is collaborating with Pokdarwis (a tourism awareness group) in Kuala Satong Mangrove Center Village to organize Education for Environmental Sustainability for school children.

The CID team along with EHS and KAL Conservation provided education to schoolchildren ranging from kindergarten (PAUD) to high school in the company's ring 1 area, namely in Kuala Tolak, Kuala Satong, and Laman Satong Villages, but did not rule out the possibility of reaching other schools located in the District of North Hilir Matan.

Dadi, General Manager of KAL said that preventing environmental problems in the future requires real efforts to improve the quality of the environment, one of which is by fostering environmental care through environmental education for children from an early age. So, with this educational activity, school children will have the awareness to plant trees around schools and homes as early as possible, practice proper trash disposal, and implement 3R (Reuse, Reduce and Recycle).

  

"KAL will always participate and contribute to empowerment activities, especially for villages around the company and this is in line with the company's vision, mission, and values. We really hope that this program can continue so that the goals of environmental sustainability can be implemented from now on for our children and grandchildren in the future, and waste management can start from an early age," added Dadi.

On the same occasion, Badarudin, Head of HIMPAUDI, Matan Hilir Utara District, said that this educational activity was an excellent collaboration by KAL and the Pokdarwis Kuala Satong Mangrove Center,

"At this forum, PAUD teachers who are members of HIMPAUDI in Matan Hilir Utara District, have the vision to start incorporating environmental themes into teaching materials for our students. Apart from that, we get a lot of ideas to repurpose items into other functional values," said Badarudin.
