RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil)

ANJ strives to meet sustainability standards and certifications that are recognized both nationally and internationally. Six of our plantations are certified by the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO).

In 2011, ANJ's subsidiary in Belitung, PT Sahabat Mewah dan Makmur (SMM) has received our first RSPO certification. PT Austindo Nusantara Jaya Agri Binanga (ANJA) received RSPO certification in November 2012, PT Austindo Nusantara Jaya Agri Siais (ANJAS) received its certificate in September 2014, and in 2019, PT Kayung Agro Lestari (KAL) received an RSPO certificate. In 2021, ANJ’s plantations located in West Papua, PT Putera Manunggal Perkasa (PMP) and PT Permata Putera Mandiri, received an RSPO certificate.

All our palm oil products are processed according to the sustainability standards by the RSPO. We have time-bound targets to certify all plasma and kemitraan programs under our plantations by the end of 2025.As of 2021, five kemitraan smallholder cooperative in SMM and three plasma cooperatives in KAL and West Papua received RSPO certification. These eight cooperatives have a total certified area of 3,038.30 Ha, or 59.67% of the total 5,091 Ha managed. Furthermore, KAL and SMM have supported over 1,700 plasma and kemitraan smallholders through the end of 2021.

In 2021, we have distributed Rp. 638 million as revenue premium from RSPO-certified palm products to a total of 964 farmers from six RSPO-certified cooperatives. Overall, our RSPO certified palm oil uses the mass balance method. On the other hand, the PMP mill currently uses the Identity Preserved (IP) method as a supply chain model where all FFB is 100% certified.
