Sustainability

Issued in July 2019, this Sustainability Policy by PT Austindo Nusantara Jaya Tbk (ANJ) is in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals adopted in 2015 by the United Nations General Assembly and adheres to the principles of responsible development in ANJ Group.

The principles of responsible development align the prosperity of ANJ business with the conservation of nature and improvements of the lives of people.

At the core of our sustainability concept is the long-term prosperity of people, whether it is our shareholders, our employees, or communities around our areas of operation. We believe that this prosperity can neither be achieved nor maintained without conserving a healthy environment on which all people depend.

THE RESPONSIBLE DEVELOPMENT CONCEPT
There are three fundamental elements underlying our approach to responsible development: business prosperity, planetary health and people’s well-being.

At the core of these three aspects is the prosperity of our business, because without a viable and profitable business, we would not have the resources to actively take care of the environment in which we operate, nor the resources to develop and elevate the lives of people we work with.

SCOPE OF THIS POLICY
Applies to all operations within the ANJ Group of companies, and extends to all our third party suppliers.

Core Elements of Responsible Development:

Prosperity

We seek to ensure the prosperity of our business by adhering to the following values and practices:

  • Continuous improvement
  • Fair return and fair treatment
  • Ethical behavior
  • Legal compliance

Planet

We seek to contribute to the health of our planet by adhering to the following values and practices:

  • Biodiversity conservation
  • Peat land management
  • Environmental practices
  • Traceability
  • Partnership
  • Landscapes

People

We seek to contribute to the welfare of the people with whom we work -- employees and workers as well as community -- by adhering to the following values and practices that include, as examples non-discrimination and equal opportunity policy; gender equality; fair payment and working hours; employment priority for nearby communities; Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC), respect, dignity and safety, and compliance that all workers are of an appropriate age.

This policy is currently being communicated to various groups of stakeholders to obtain feedback.
